How Do You Turn the Impossible into Possible in A Lifetime of Chances? Life is full of chances. In addition, there is a belief that you make choices, and those choices create chances that change your life.
On August 19, 2021, my life went from the Impossible to the Possible when my first book, 31 Days to Purchasing and Renting Your First Investment Real Estate Property, was published.
How to Know You’re an Author?
However, without having several folks act as informal and formal coaches, I would never have found my voice through the written word.
When I started working with a formal writing coach, she asked me several questions.
Importance of The Questions, Belief
The first question she asked me was, “Are you interested in working on how you think and feel about yourself as an author?”
I thought and replied, “What do you mean?”
She replied and observed, ” I have noticed that when you talk about yourself, you are not confident that you are an author and have no right to call yourself an author.”
I said to my writing coach, “Carla, that’s because I’m not; that is why I was looking for a coach. I want to become an author.”
Carla replied, “Rick, are you kidding me? You have written over ten magazine articles for one of Canada’s top investment real estate magazines and one of North America’s top-running magazines. Your blog is rich with over 150 investment real estate posts on your website, including sharing your story on your book writing journey,” Announcing Your Book in the World, How to Raise Remarkable, Rich Words.
The Mindshift
Carla said, “You have trained yourself to write and you are published, however, you still don’t see yourself as an author.”
“Similarly, you write about having an entrepreneurial mindset in your soon-to-be-published book. You believe that mindset is a big part of being an investment real estate investor.”
‘Why would you not see you need to shift your mindset and see yourself as an author?”
Carla also said she noticed in my book that I talk about looking at myself in the mirror. Whether I ask people to see themselves as a 1/2 marathoner, triathlete, fitness performer, or investment real estate investor. Mindset is critical.
Above all, she challenged me to use the same method I advise my readers to use: Look in the mirror and see the author; I am inside and out.
